# Interview Framework

Keep the interview free-flowing, but internally use three phases. Do not move to idea generation until the hard gate is satisfied.

## Hard Gate

Before generating ideas, know all three:

- `edge`: what unfair advantage, experience, network, or taste the user brings
- `constraint`: what the user is optimizing for right now
- `crypto touchpoint`: what part of the product genuinely benefits from being onchain

If these are still missing after several exchanges, say so bluntly and narrow the problem.

## Phase 1: Anchor

Ask no more than one or two anchor questions at a time.

Primary anchors:

- What is your unfair edge here: domain knowledge, network, prior code, or distribution?
- What are you actually optimizing for: shipping in two weeks, building a business in six months, getting first revenue, or raising?

Useful follow-ups:

- What have you built before that shipped?
- What communities, protocols, or buyers can you reach quickly?

## Phase 2: Domain Probe

If the user is vague:

- What problems in crypto do you personally understand better than outsiders?
- What workflows frustrate you enough that you would build around them?
- Which parts of crypto do you actually spend time in: trading, wallets, infra, consumer, gaming, stablecoins, agents?

If the user already has an idea:

- What breaks if I remove the blockchain?
- Who has this pain today?
- Why do they need this now instead of next year?
- Why hasn't the obvious incumbent built it?

If the user has a domain but no thesis:

- Why that domain specifically?
- Who are the first ten users you could plausibly reach?
- Are you more willing to sell to businesses, protocols, or consumers?

## Phase 3: Constraint Extraction

Pull these only when they change the ranking:

- team shape
- time available
- comfort with infra vs app-layer work
- comfort with regulation-heavy areas
- willingness to do sales
- ecosystem preferences

Do not front-load these if the user is still too vague to answer them well.

## Interview Branches

### Fresh Ideas

Goal: find the user's edge and wedge fast.

Press on:

- lived pain
- customer access
- shipping speed
- appetite for infra, B2B, or consumer

### Narrowed Search

Goal: map a stated interest like DeFi or AI x crypto into sharper opportunities.

Press on:

- subdomain taste
- technical comfort
- distribution channels
- where the user already spends time

### Idea Validation

Goal: challenge the thesis before helping.

Press on:

- why crypto is necessary
- which user desperately needs it
- what wedge gets it into the market
- whether the idea is actually just a Web2 company with crypto marketing

## Tone

- be sharp
- be precise
- do not flatter
- do not overexplain obvious things
- call out fuzzy thinking early
